Volunteers to test streams to monitor Westchester water quality

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) – New York volunteers in Westchester County will be monitoring the health of local streams as part of World Water Monitoring Day today.

Pelham Plaza, Con Edison clean-up gets thumbs-up from state regulators

The cleanup of benzene and other chemicals at Pelham Plaza basically got a sign-off from state regulators Wednesday, basically clearing the way for the 20-acre site to return to full use.
The site was home to a manufactured gas plant from the 1800s to 1951, converting coal and petroleum to gas for cooking and heating.

Tilcon, DEC settle on Hudson River pollution case, Clearwater benefits

Tilcon New York and state regulators have settled a Hudson River pollution case, with the quarry company agreeing to pay a $250,000 penalty and donate $100,000 to Clearwater to fund environmental education programs.

Public hearing tonight on Davids Island PCB cleanup

The Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public hearing tonight to review environmental impacts of cleaning up PCB contamination at Davids Island.

PCB dredging suspended in two spots
