The lawn, oh, the lawn

Cutting the grass is one of those summer rituals for many. Check the oil, add some gas to the tank and start up the mower. Beyond some exercise, the work does almost nothing for me. But almost every time I mow the lawn, it seems to delight some birds  particularly gray catbirds, robins, a phoebe and, occasionally, a bluebird. I don’t know if cutting the grass stirs up the bugs, but these species always seem to be around after I’m done mowing, swooping down or hopping through the grass and grabbing bugs.
